Mixed start for Trinidad and Tobago rugby Under-19s at RAN

T was a mixed start for the national men’s Under-19 rugby team at the Rugby Americas North (RAN) 2023 tournament at the University of the West Indies Mona Bowl in St Andrew, Jamaica on Wednesday.

TT, playing in the opening game of the tournament, got past Cayman Islands 11-0. Iain McLaughlin converted a try to give TT a 5-0 lead, before captain Nathan Achim converted two penalty kicks which added six more to the total.

After the match Achim said, “I think this win is a very good thing for the boys because it is going to give them a lot of confidence for the rest of the tournament.”

Later in the day, TT fell 17-5 to USA South.

Simultaneously a women’s 15s tournament is being played.
