Trinidad and Tobago hunt their third consecutive West Indies Rising Stars Under-19 Women’s 50-Over Championship win against Leeward Islands at the Sir Frank Worrell Memorial Ground in St Augustine on Tuesday from 10am.

On Sunday, at Gilbert Park in California, the TT team defeated Windward Islands by 20 runs to remain unbeaten after four matches. Their first match against Barbados was abandoned because of rain.

Batting first, TT was dismissed for 131 after a shortened 28-over contest. Maria La Foucade (30), Kirah Manpaul (20) and Kineka Cassar (17) topscored for the hosts.

Jannillea Glasgow (4/11), Abide St John (2/27) and Nesha Alexander (2/9) were Windwards’ best bowlers.

Set at 132 for victory, Windwards had a good start from their top order, as number three batter Glasgow (41) and opener Namiah Marcellin (27) showed promise.

However, when they were dismissed, Windwards could not create any effective partnerships and were eventually restricted to 111/7 from their 28 overs.

Bowling for TT, Zakiyah Harrilal (2/22) topped the bunch, with Shalini Samara (1/18), Jazz Mitchell (1/19) and Jessica O’Rosco (1/27) also among the wickets.

Also notching up wins on Sunday were Jamaica and Guyana U19s.

At the Sir Frank Worrell Memorial Ground in St Augustine, Jamaica defeated Barbados by six wickets courtesy the Duckworth Lewis System (DLS).

And at the National Cricket Centre in Couva, Guyana trumped Leewards by three, also via the DLS.

Tuesday’s other round-four matches see Barbados meet Windwards at NCC and Jamaica up against Guyana at Gilbert Park.
