Jinelle Campbell crowned national girls U20 shot put champion

Mason Hall’s Jinelle Campbell was crowned national girls’ U20 shot put 4kg champion on day two of the NGC/Republic Bank and (NAAA) Junior Championships which concluded at Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo, on Sunday.

The Tobago athlete launched the sphere 13.15 metres to claim top honours ahead of silver medallist Kara Alexander (10.70m) and bronze receiver Aniah Phillips (10.52m), both of Mercury Athletic Club.

In the boys’ U20 discus throw, Mercury swept the field as Jeron James (45.30m), Farrel Jerry (35.85m) and Hasani Daniel (33.25m) captured the one-two-three finish.

Concorde Athletics’ Gianna Paul also showed good form in the girls’ U18 long jump as she leapt to gold with 5.52m effort. Memphis Pioneers’ Hailey Lynch (5.28m) and Concorde’s Nathaniela King (5.02m) rounded off the top three, in that order.

Kaizen Panthers’ Kaleb Campbell won the boys’ U18 high jump by conquering the 1.85m height. Zenith’s Jaylon Inniss (1.82m) and Concorde’s Tyrique Vincent (1.76m) was second and third respectively.

Up to press time on Sunday, the semi-finals and finals of the boys’ and girls’ 200m, 300m hurdles, 400m, 400m hurdles, 800m, 4x100m and 4x400m relays were scheduled to run off.
