4 days with no water

THE EDITOR: Four days and counting with no water. Where is Public Utilities Minister Marvin Gonzales? Some 250,000 people have no water and the minister is as silent as a mouse.

Has the Prime Minister told him to hide and be quiet because local government elections are next month?

Only lies are coming from WASA with respect to completion times for repairs to a leaking 48-inch diameter transmission pipeline at the Caroni Water Treatment Plant.

So, instead of water coming on Thursday, we were told that repairs are ongoing and another press conference was scheduled for Friday morning.

I have heard that there has been a serious management breakdown with respect to this leak but no one wants to say anything

It is very clear that WASA has no contingency plan in place to handle an event of this nature. It speaks to a paucity of proper management planning.

Very, very sad. Heads must roll.
