Trinidad and Tobago U19 cricketers aim to bounce back vs Jamaica

Trinidad and Tobago are aiming for an improved performance to their Cricket West Indies Rising Stars Men’s Under-19 Championship when they face Jamaica at Arnos Vale Playing Field in Kingstown, St Vincent, on Thursday, from 9am (TT time).

In their first match on Tuesday, TT lost to Barbados by 37 runs as they could not reach the target of 153 for victory. They were eventually dismissed for 115 from 34 overs, with Rajeev Ramnath (35) and West Indies prospect Jacen Agard (19) top scoring.

During Barbados’ innings, spinner Andrew Rambaran (3/20) and Agard (3/41) shone with the ball for TT.

Meanwhile, Jamaica romped to an eight-wicket win over Guyana in their opening match and will be hoping to maintain momentum heading into the TT clash.

Batting first, Guyana were dismantled for 78 from 23.4 overs courtesy tight bowling from Jamaica’s M Clarke 3/13, R Edwards 3/18, R Redwood 2/12, D James 2/17.

In reply, Jamaica eased to victory by getting to 78/2 with J Johnson (28 not out) A Weir 19 and S Wedderburn 18 not out leading the chase.

Thursday’s two other matches will see both Guyana and Leewards in action at Cumberland Playing Field while Windwards go up against Barbados at Sion Playing Field.

Windwards defeated Leewards by 42 runs in their opener on Tuesday.
