Another shabby batting display saw Trinidad and Tobago’s Under-19 men’s team lose their second consecutive Cricket West Indies Rising Stars 50-Over Championship match on Thursday.

At Arnos Vale Playing Field in Kingstown, St Vincent, Jamaica cruised to a six-wicket victory over TT after the young team tallied a low 158 from 47.2 overs.

Jamaica went on to race to a match-winning 159/4 in just 33 overs, to snag their second win on the trot and add to TT’s poor start to the tournament.

TT batted first and found it tough to create lasting partnerships. Lower order batsman Abdur-Rahman Juman (28) topscored. Opener Rajeev Ramnath (22) also contributed. Kyle Ramdoo (19) and Vasant Singh (16) also posted fair knocks.

M Clarke (3/30) and R Edwards (3/36) bagged three wickets each while D James (2/33) and T Redwood (2/34) were also among the wickets.

In reply, Jamaica lay back and eased to 159/4, led by J Johnson’s neat knock of 57 from 67 balls while A Weir (36) and S Wedderburn (19) also looked good with the bat.

In the other matches, Windward Islands also secured their second win as they defeated Barbados by four wickets at Sion Hill Playing Field. Barbados were dismissed for 137 (39.4) but Windwards successfully chased down the total to get 138/6 (44.1.

Additionally, Leewards also got their first win after beating Guyana by eight wickets at Cumberland Playing Field.

Guyana batted first and went all out for 108 (35.2). Leewards made it look easy and raced to 109/2 from 31.4 overs.
