THE PRESIDENT of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, arrived in Trinidad and Tobago on Wednesday morning.

He is here for the 45th Caricom heads of government summit, which began on Monday and ends tonight.

In a post to the National Security Ministry’s Facebook page, it showed the ministry’s line minister Fitzgerald Hinds greeting Kagame at the Piarco International Airport.

It added, “Rwanda’s admittance to the Commonwealth took place during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting held in Port of Spain in 2009, which was chaired by TT.”

Kagame is the second world leader to visit TT for the summit. South Korea Prime Minister Han Duck-Soo addressed regional leaders on Tuesday when he promised that his country's financial contributions to Caricom will increase fivefold in 2024.

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres was also a special guest of the summit and addressed the opening on Monday.
