A Curepe man is in custody after his home was searched on Monday and stolen items found there.

A police media release on Wednesday reported that officers of the North Central Division visited a house on McInroy Street, searched it and found jewellery, watches, laptops and cellphones.

The exercise was led by ACP Oswain Subero, Snr Supt Brian Ramphall, Supt Nowbutt and co-ordinated by ASP Rawle Ramharack, W/ASP Powder and Insp Greene, with supervision from Sgt Moses and Cpl Baseanoo.

In an unrelated incident, Northern Division police on exercise saw a man who ran away from them towards the Caroni River.

While he was running away, a yellow package fell from a backpack he was carrying.

The man got away by jumping into into a flooded river and running towards Greenvale or Carapo.

Police searched but did not find him.

They seized the package, which contained 520 grams of marijuana.

This exercise was led by Snr Supt Kerwin Francis, Supt Revenales, ASP Ishmael Pitt and co-ordinated by acting Insp Jagroo and Sgt Ramey with supervision from W/Cpl Singh-John.
