THE Trinidad and Tobago Under-15 cricketers made it two wins from two as captain Brendan Boodoo and vice-captain Yasir Deen led from the front grabbing three wickets apiece to guide their team to a seven-wicket win over Windward Islands in round two of the West Indies Rising Stars 50-over Under-15 Championships on Thursday.

Rain at the Liberta Sports Club in Antigua forced the match between TT and Windward Islands to be shortened to a T20 match.

Windward Islands seemed poised for a more competitive total as they were 45 without loss in the ninth over with Earsinho Fontaine and Theo Edward at the crease. The Windward Islands innings then fell apart and they were all out for 71.

Fontaine, who scored 130 not out in round one, was the first batsman dismissed for 23. He faced 22 balls and struck three fours. TT continued to grab wickets regularly with Boodoo and Deen the chief destroyers.

Edward and Fontaine were the only two Windward Islands batsmen to reach double figures. Edward was the fourth batsman out when he was stumped for 14 off 34 deliveries by wicket-keeper Christiano Ramnanan to give Deen the wicket.

Deen and Boodoo are not twins, but they finished with identical figures as they both grabbed 3/9 in four overs.

In response, Boodoo struck 21 off 20 balls (three fours) and Zane Maraj hit 18 not out off 23 balls (three fours) as TT got to 75/3 in 11.5 overs to seal another win. Leon Alexander was the best bowler for Windward Islands with 2/11 in three overs.

The tournament is being played in a round robin format.

Round three matches will be played on Saturday from 9.30 am.
