DEFENDER Kareem Moses is elated to join the TT men’s senior football team ahead of two Concacaf Nations League matches and is eager to help the Soca Warriors put this country on the map again with a quality brand of football.

On Monday, Soca Warriors head coach Angus Eve named his 24-man squad for matches against Bahamas and Nicaragua in the coming week.

TT will first play the Bahamas in Nassau on Friday, before returning home to play Nicaragua on March 27 at Dwight Yorke Stadium in Bacolet, Tobago. Two wins will see TT qualify for the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup. TT are in Ft Lauderdale, Florida for a training camp before the match in the Bahamas.

The team is a mixture of players who recently featured in two international friendlies against Jamaica and foreign-based players.

“First thing we would like to win those two games, but I would like us to really put TT back on the map the way we should,” Moses told TT Football Association media.

“Play excellent football, do exactly what the coach want us to do, but most of all put on a good show especially when we play home in Tobago.”

TT will have confidence heading into the Nations League matches after defeating Jamaica 1-0 on March 11 and drawing 0-0 against the same team days later.

Moses, who has seven caps for TT, was proud of the TT defenders in the two-match series against Jamaica.

“First off it was nice to see the defenders get a clean sheet, so that is something we got to build on. It was good competitive games with the squad and it is good that players from there are in the squad now and for us a lot of us were looking on who were outside and we know exactly the expectations that we are going to have to get the results in the next two games.”

Goalkeeper Denzil Smith and midfielder Kaile Auvray, who both made their debut against Jamaica, have been chosen by Eve. Smith looked solid in the first match against Jamaica as he kept a clean sheet.

Over the two matches, Auvray impressed with his ability and the teenager has been given the nod.

El Salvador-based Jomal Williams, who was recalled for the Jamaica friendlies, has been selected. Joevin Jones, John Paul Rochford, Michel Poon Angeron and Noah Powder have all remained in the team.

A few of the foreign-based players back on the team are Keston Julien, Daniel Phillips and Aubrey David. Tobagonian Rundell Winchester, who has four caps since making his debut in 2013, will be eager to show his quality in front of his home crowd.

Moses believes the training camp in Florida will serve as ideal preparation ahead of the two upcoming matches.Asked what he wants to accomplish in the camp, Moses said, “I try to focus on camaraderie, I try to focus on the team togetherness because that’s why we are here and I try to focus on what the coach wants us to do. I try to keep the unity because unity is strength and I think if we continue having these small camps before we go on to take on countries it will help us with bringing the team together and having that love inside the camp.”
