ANIL Alladin, who was found dead Sunday night in a seated position with a wound to the chest at a friend’s home in Fyzabad, apparently “apologised” to his common-law wife for not returning home alive.

Common-law wife Quanda Maharaj told Newsday they had planned to go out on Monday morning to buy baby supplies as well as to order a cake for their daughter, who turns one next week.

While speaking at the family’s home in South Oropouche on Monday, the weeping woman insisted something was not adding up.

“Something is not right. Anil is telling me he is sorry. He is saying that he should have come home because we were supposed to go for the milk and pampers. Today we were also supposed to order our daughter’s cake from Kiss,” Maharaj said.

Alladin, the father of three, worked at a poultry depot at Harris Village in South Oropouche and was also a truck driver. He would have turned 43 in October.

Maharaj said he returned home from work at about 7 pm on Sunday, and soon after, he went out. The couple had initially planned to get the baby supplies that night.

“He promised we would instead go this morning for the items. He brought noodles, pork and chunky vegetables from a Chinese restaurant. He ate some and left the rest for me in the refrigerator. That was the last time I spoke to him,” Maharaj said.

“When he did not come home, I kept calling and calling but got no answer. My belly was wringing last night. I got a spiritual pain and that is a pain that cannot be explained. People know what went on and are not saying anything.”

From what she was told, Alladin was liming at a bar in Fyzabad and then left with people he knew. At the bar, he and someone had “a small misunderstanding.”

A police report said that a man reported that at around 10.24 pm, Alladin was found sitting on a chair unresponsive at a friend’s house in Pepper Village, Fyzabad.

Alladin appeared to have had a stab wound to the chest, but there was no visible signs of blood.

Fyzabad officers and detectives from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (Region III) visited the scene.

Looking at a photo of Alladin and herself in a mini shrine at their home, Maharaj said she often lights candles and prays for protection for the family.

Maharaj said, “I want justice because I feel in my gut that something is wrong. He was killed for a reason. I do not know the reason as yet.” No one has been arrested and investigations are ongoing.
