No need for more mas in Tobago

THE EDITOR: Having just celebrated carnival in October 2022, Tobago does not need another one in February. Tobago is supposedly the destination of choice when Carnival is going on in Trinidad. Once Carnival in Trinidad is in full swing I very much doubt the party people will leave TT.

The Trini people who do not like Carnival will travel to Tobago and stay longer than the two Carnival days. A whole week in Tobago will be enjoyable. Then after the Trinidad episode, tired masqueraders will travel to Tobago. Just what is needed to revitalise the tourism industry.

The Tobago hotel industry is suffering post the covid19 lockdown. It needs all the usual Trinidad families and other foreign guests to book all the rooms. And, anyway, the huge Trinidad celebrations will nix anything carded for Tobago.

It is up to the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) and the business chambers to collaborate. Another Tobago carnival within four months? Who will be fooling whom?
