Browne lists PM's agenda in Washington DC

FOREIGN and Caricom Affairs Minister Dr Amery Browne on Friday provided the Senate with a detailed list of the Prime Minister's meetings with US lawmakers in Washington DC in April aimed at discuss matters of mutual interest between the two countries.

Responding to a question from Opposition Senator Wade Mark, Browne said on April 26, Dr Rowley met with former US senator Christopher Dodd, special adviser to the Ninth Summit of the Americas (which took place in Los Angeles in June ).

On April 27, Rowley met with the chairman of the US House of Representatives's homeland security committee, Benny J Thompson.

On April 28, Rowley met with US special climate envoy John Kerry.

On the same day, Rowley had an engagement with other US lawmakers, including house speaker Nancy Pelosi.

On April 29, Rowley participated in a virtual US-Caribbean leaders meeting which was hosted by US vice president Kamala Harris.

In September, Rowley met with Harris in Washington.

Other Caricom leaders who participated in that meeting were president of Suriname Chandrikapersad Santokhi, prime minister of Barbados Mia Mottley, president of Guyana Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali, and president of the Dominican Republic Luis Abinader.

The discussions focused on matters of energy, finance and food security.
