WHILE the country was grappling with floods and landslides, the criminal elements were not phased by the bad weather as they carried out three murders in three unrelated incidents in broad daylight.

The killings took place in Sea Lots, Mausica and Oropune Gardens.

The first murder took place at 10 am when a white Nissan B15 car was driving slowly along Production Avenue in Sea Lots and the occupants started shooting at Josiah Lincoln Greenidge who was walking along the road.

Greenidge, also known as "Cow" and "Lizard,” died later while being treated at the Port of Spain General Hospital.

Police said Greenidge was well-known to them and added that his murder was gang-related. Police said they intercepted a car in Beetham Gardens shortly after the shooting and arrested one man in relation to the murder.

One hour later, the second murder took place in the carpark at Pricesmart in Mausica, just outside the Payless Shoe Store which is located on the Pricemsart compound.

Police reported that Mark Rennie Mohammed, 41, of Ninth Street, Barataria was walking in the carpark when he was approached by two men who shot him. Police said Mohammed, who died at the scene, was shot in the head.

Even as his body lay the ground and the immediate area around it was cordoned off, people went about their business, heading in Pricesmart or leaving it with trolleys filled with grocery items.

Police could not immediately identify a motive for Mohammed's murder. Videos of his body lying in the carpark were posted to social media where it was shared many times.

Then at about 2 pm, 25-year-old Cesava Deva was gunned down while liming along Tenth Street in Oropune Gardens.

A video recording of the killing was shared on social media. The video showed two men shooting and then escaping in a white car. Several other men alighted from the car and ran off into thick bushes.

Police said one man was later arrested after the car was intercepted near the UWI St Augustine campus. Investigations into the three murders are continuing.

TWO men were murdered on Thursday morning about an hour apart, in unrelated shootings.

One took place at about 11 am in east Trinidad. Police reported that March Rennie was shot dead in the carpark of Payless Shoe Store, Mausica. They said three men were seen fleeing in a waiting car after Rennie was killed.

Police could not immediately identify a motive for the 41-year-old’s murder.

In the earlier killing, 32-year-old Josiah Lincoln Greenidge, also known as "Cow" and "Lizard,” died while being treated at the Port of Spain General Hospital.

Police reported that at about 10 am a car passed along Pioneer Drive Sea Lots and the occupants started shooting, hitting Greenidge.

Police said the 32-year-old was known to them to be involved in criminal activities and labelled his killing gang-related.
