TKR welcome return of Dottin after slow 6ixty start

TRINBAGO Knight Riders (TKR) women will welcome the return of their captain Deandra Dottin on Thursday after the TT franchise lost their opening two matches of the SKYEXCH 6ixty women’s tournament at Warner Park in Basseterre, St Kitts, on Wednesday.

TKR were without Dottin on Wednesday because she did not arrive in St Kitts in time for the tournament's opening day, after playing in the Hundred Women’s tournament in England.

In the opening match of the tournament TKR fell to a 28-run defeat to Barbados Royals.

Royals posted a competitive 108/4 in their ten overs batting first with South African Chloe Tyron hitting a brilliant 63 off 29 balls.

Tyron, who cracked five fours and four sixes, was supported by Britney Cooper’s 18 not out off 18 deliveries.

Bowling for TKR, Jannillea Glasgow grabbed 1/25 in two overs.

In response, TKR fell short scoring 80/3 in ten overs.

Opener Kycia Knight looked solid at the top of the order, but had to retire hurt after scoring 21.

Hayley Jensen tried to get TKR close to the target with 22 not out off 12 balls.

Royals captain Hayley Matthews was the best bowler for the Royals taking 2/6 in one over.

In the second match of the opening day TKR lost by 15 runs against Guyana Amazon Warriors.

Amazon Warriors posted 81/2 in ten overs with captain Stafanie Taylor cracking 29 not out off 18 balls with one four and two sixes.

Rashada Williams was also among the runs scoring 24 off 24 balls. Bowling for TKR, Sheneta Grimmond was the best bowler grabbing 1/9 in two overs.

In response, TKR were dismissed for 66 in 9.3 overs. In the 6ixty when six wickets fall the innings is over.

Deandra Dottin -

Kycia Knight struck 22 off 23 deliveries, an innings which included one four.

Fast bowler Shamilia Connell was the pick of the Amazon Warriors bowlers with 2/17 in two overs.

Knight was anticipating the return of Dottin, saying, “We have our premier player in Deandra Dottin back (on Thursday) so we will happy for that.”

Amazon Warriors defeated Barbados Royals by nine wickets in the third and final match of the day.

Royals struggled at the crease only scoring 58 all out in 9.3 overs.

Chloe Tyron struck four fours in her knock of 24 off 17 balls for the Royals.

Cherry-Ann Fraser was the chief destroyer for the Amazon Warriors claiming remarkable figures of 3/6 in two overs.

In reply, Amazon Warriors eased to 59/1 in eight overs with Taylor hitting 33 not out off 24 balls. Her innings included four fours and one six.

Williams provided ample support with an unbeaten 22 off 22 balls.

On Thursday, TKR will play Royals at Warner Park at 3 pm in the only women’s match of the day.

BARBADOS ROYALS 58 (9.3 overs) – Chloe Tyron 24; Cherry-Ann Fraser 3/6 vs GUYANA AMAZON WARRIORS 59/1 (8 overs) – Stafanie Taylor 33 not out, Rashada Williams 22 not out. Amazon Warriors won by nine wickets.
