Surgical solutions

THE EDITOR: The Prime Minister has acknowledged that violent crime in the country has become a “crisis.” He has declared it as a “public health emergency.”

Such a state of affairs requires surgical intervention. Perhaps the inter-ministerial/agency committee may consider the following surgical recommendations:

Every criminal that uses a gun, surgical removal of the thumb be carried out.

Every rapist or person conducting human trafficking for prostitution be subjected to surgical castration.

It will cost the State little or nothing to implement such laws. Does the Government have the will to enact them or does it have to await the Law Association’s approval?
