Trinidad and Tobago women's, men's Under-19 rugby teams set for RAN

THE Trinidad and Tobago women’s rugby and men’s Under-19 teams will both be in action when the 2022 Rugby Americas North (RAN) Women’s 12s and Men’s Under-19 tournament is held from Thursday-Sunday at the University of the West Indies Mona Campus in Kingston, Jamaica.

It is the first time the tournament is being held since 2019 because of the covid19 pandemic.

The men’s Under-19 tournament will feature TT, Mexico, USA South, Bermuda, Cayman Islands and Jamaica.

TT will play in Pool B alongside USA South and Jamaica. On Thursday, TT will open their campaign against USA South from 1.30 pm, followed by a match versus Jamaica at 5 pm later that day.

The teams are seeded based on their performances in the 2019 tournament. Mexico are ranked first, followed by USA South, TT, Bermuda, Cayman Islands and Jamaica.

The TT women will play in Pool A with Jamaica and the Dominican Republic. On Friday, TT will first play Jamaica at 9.40 am followed by a match against the Dominican Republic at 12.40 pm.

TT are ranked fifth in the women’s competition. Jamaica are seeded first, USA South are second, St Lucia third, the Dominican Republic fourth and Cayman Islands sixth.

The women’s tournament will end on Saturday and the men’s Under-19 will conclude on Sunday.
