Trinidad and Tobago defeat Guyana in women’s Under-19 cricket

TRINIDAD and Tobago were victorious when matches in the Cricket West Indies Rising Stars Under-19 Women’s T20 tournament continued, on Monday. TT emerged with a 40-run victory over Guyana at Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba.

TT could only muster 69 all out in 13.1 overs batting first. Kenika Cassar scored 13 and Samara Ramnath chipped in with 12.

Bowling for Guyana, Niveena Ramnauth took 3/10 in 2.1 overs and Trisha Hardat grabbed 3/19 in four overs.

Guyana struggled in their run chase and were dismissed for 29 in 9.5 overs. Sarah Amin struck nine for Guyana. Shalini Samaroo was the best bowler for TT snatching 3/7 in three overs.

Katrina Ruben (2/3) and Samara Ramnath (2/5) both bagged two wickets to help guide TT to the comfortable win.

In the first match played at Brian Lara, Windward Islands defeated Jamaica by eight wickets.

At the Diego Martin Sporting Complex, Barbados got past Leeward Islands by 49 runs.

The penultimate round will be played on Tuesday and the final round on Wednesday with teams battling for the title.
