TT battle for bronze at CAZOVA Champs

TRINIDAD AND Tobago can still clinch two bronze medals at the Caribbean Zonal Volleyball Association (CAZOVA) Youth Championships when final day action jumps off at the Southern Regional Indoor Sports Arena, Pleasantville on Monday.

After losing their third straight match in the girls Under-19 division against Martinique on Sunday, TT will meet 2019 winners Suriname for the bronze medal in the penultimate match in the group at noon on Monday.

Earlier in the day, TT lost 3-0 (25-9, 25-17, 25-22) to Martinique, who will meet US Virgin Islands in the gold medal playoff from 2 pm.

In the final, USVI start as favourites having defeated Martinique 20-25, 25-20, 25-13, 25-23 when they met in the round-robin stage while Suriname defeated TT 25-12, 25-4, 25-23.

Additionally, TT’s junior men U21 team can also earn bronze but must dig deep to pull off an upset-win over title-favourites Haiti.

On Monday, in the final round of matches, Jamaica meet Suriname from 10 am, and Haiti battle TT from 4 pm, at the end of which, the top team will be declared champions.
