Keshorn, Jereem in Trinidad and Tobago team for World Athletics Champs

DOUBLE Olympic medallist, javelin thrower Keshorn Walcott, and sprinter Jereem Richards have been named in the Trinidad and Tobago team for the 2022 IAAF World Athletics Championships, which will be contested in Eugene, Oregon, United States from July 15 to 24.

Walcott, the 2012 Olympic gold medallist and 2016 Olympic bronze medallist, threw 85.17 metres to win the national title at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo on June 25.

A day later, Richards claimed the national 200-metre crown in a NAAA (National Association of Athletics Administrations) Open Championship record time of 19.83 seconds.

Michelle-Lee Ahye, the 2018 Commonwealth Games gold medallist, as well as long jumper Tyra Gittens, have also been included in the squad, according to a media release from the NAAA on Tuesday.

Richards have also been named in the men’s 4x400-metre relay team, along with Dwight St Hillaire, Asa Guevara, Shakeem McKay and Kashief King.
