The Meteorological Service has updated its adverse weather alert to remain in effect until 8 pm on Wednesday.

It said isolated thunderstorms have been occurring and continue to be observed across parts of Trinidad and Tobago owing to low-level convergence associated with the passage of a strong tropical wave (PTC 2).

Heavy showers/thunderstorms are expected to continue intermittently over the period. These thunderstorms could produce intense rainfall of over 25mm.

It said street and/or flash flooding are possible in areas so prone, causing minor traffic disruptions.

Lightning is also likely.

There is also the threat of gusty winds. These gusts may be brief, but are capable of breaking tree branches, displacing unsecured roofs and loose outdoor objects, and can even topple over unhealthy trees.

The population is instructed not to wade or drive through flood waters. People are asked to secure loose outdoor items and livestock.
