General manager of the Kiss Baking Company Ltd Rene de Gannes has said bread supplies are expected to return to normal by Thursday.

A media release from the company on Wednesday reported there had been a temporary disruption in the supply of different types of bread.

The company said it was working to resolve the issues as quickly as possible.

Contacted for comment on Wednesday, de Gannes said the disruption was a result of the closure of the Chaguanas factory on Tuesday in preparation for the passing of a tropical storm.

"We closed the plant early and sent the employees home early, so one shift was compromised.

"We're back to full production today, so by tomorrow or for the latest Friday, we anticipate it will be back to normal with supplies."

Speaking with Newsday on Wednesday, president of the Supermarket Association of TT (SATT) Rajiv Diptee said he was hopeful the regular supply of bread would be restored soon.

"We would have seen a lot of buying by customers in preparation for the storm, and obviously the Kiss line of products would be something a lot of people would have bought...

"We look forward to the regular supply of products coming back soon."
