Digicel announced that it has put its emergency contingency plan in place to ensure the effective management of storm-related events.

On Tuesday it urged everyone to prepare for the storm by stocking up on basic items, securing their homes, keeping their phones charged and topped up.

The release said Digicel's plans include "robust customer communications, technical updates, site management, logistics co-ordination and servicing of generators." It also said Digicel had ensured all its cell sites across TT were working properly.

CEO Abraham Smith said, “Our primary concern is the safety of the people of TT and that we keep them connected to friends and family no matter what."

Smith said Digicel had done "everything possible to ensure that we are prepared for the storm and have mobilised our technical teams and field engineers across the island.”

As the storm progressed, Digicel said, it would update customers using its online platforms and direct messaging systems.
