Covid19 deaths hit 4,000 mark

The total number of covid19 related deaths in TT, since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, has reached 4,000 with the deaths of three people between Friday and Saturday.

According to the Ministry of Health’s afternoon update, the three were an elderly man and two elderly women. Two had multiple comorbidities and one had a single comorbidity.

There were 106 new cases were recorded from samples taken from June 22 to 24, which brought the total number of positive cases to 166,682.

There were 107 people in hospital, including two in the intensive care unit and two in the high dependency unit at Couva hospital, as well as 6,767 in home self-isolation.

Twelve people were discharged from public health facilities while 101 recovered from home isolation, bringing the total number of people recovered to 155,808, and the number of active cases to 6,874.
