TRINIDAD AND Tobago secured a 3-0 victory over Suriname on Thursday at the Estadio Olimpico, San Pedro Sula, Honduras to book their place in the knockout stage of the Concacaf Men’s Under-20 Championship.

TT, having finished third in their group with four points, will meet Costa Rica in the knockout round on Saturday from 2 pm (TT time) at the Estadio Yankel Rosenthal, San Pedro Sula with the winners advancing to the quarter-finals to meet either United States or Nicaragua.

TT coach Angus Eve said during a post-game interview on Thursday, “Credit to these guys, they have been fighting. They are fighting hard for their country. All the are asking for is some support from back home and some positive words.”

In Group F, TT drew 4-4 against Haiti on Sunday but were hammered 5-0 by Mexico on Tuesday. They needed at least a point against Suriname to progress to the last 16.

“We have been giving everything we have," said Eve. "Unfortunately, the results weren’t going our way a couple of times.”
