Blue Devils, Giants in T10 final showdown

A MEMORABLE bowling performance by experienced fast bowler Rayad Emrit helped Scorpion Titans Blue Devils book a place in the final of the TT Cricket Board Dream XI T10 Trinidad Blast at Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba.

Blue Devils will play Valini’s Supermart Leatherback Giants in the final at 2.30 pm, on Friday.

Both semifinals were played on Thursday. Blue Devils defeated Fides Ltd Scarlet Ibis Scorchers by four wickets and Giants got past Tiger Tanks Cocrico Cavaliers by seven wickets.

In the first semifinal, Emrit grabbed 5/11 in two overs to restrict Scorchers to 83/6 in ten overs.

Hakeem Mitchell battled at the crease for Scorchers with a knock of 37. His 22-ball innings included one four and three sixes.

In response, Blue Devils lost wickets at the top of the order but 29 from opener Nicholas Sookdeosingh and 14 not out from Emrit steered Blue Devils to 86/6 in 9.4 overs to seal a place in the final.

Kieshawn Dillon snatched 1/4 in one over for Scorchers.

In the second semifinal, Saiba Batoosingh struck 55 to guide Giants to a seven-wicket win over Cavaliers.

Before Friday’s final, Cavaliers will play Scorchers in the third place playoff from noon.
