Trinidad and Tobago records 130 new covid19 cases, four more deaths

The Ministry of Health reported 130 new covid19 cases and four more deaths on Thursday.

The country’s latest fatalities are three women – two elderly and one middle-aged woman – and one man. Three had multiple comorbidities.

Since the start of the pandemic, TT has recorded 166,420 cases and 3,994 deaths. A total of 155,480 patients have recovered.

Over the past week, the number of active cases has steadily declined and had dropped to 6,946 on Thursday afternoon.

There are 117 people in hospital –one patient in the ICU department and six others in the high dependency unit.

The ministry also said there are 6,829 people in home quarantine. No one is in state quarantine or in stepdown facilities waiting to be discharged.

A total of 768,916 samples have been sent to the Caribbean Public Health Agency, the Tobago Regional Health Authority, UWI and other local testing sites.

Over a year into the national vaccination programme, the ministry said 713,550 people have taken a covid19 vaccine and 163,305 have taken a booster shot.
