DARIUS BESAI led Police to victory over Pole 9 on Saturday in the North Zone T20 tournament, currently taking place at the Diego Martin Sporting Complex.

Pole 9 found themselves in early trouble after opting to bat first. Besai struck two early blows to help reduce Pole 9 to 39 for three. However, Rishi Mannah struck 64 runs from 32 balls, a knock which included three fours and five sixes.

However, around him wickets kept falling. Pole 9 were limited to 148 for nine from their 20 overs. Besai finished with 4-22.

Despite stumbling in the chase, Police were never in any real trouble of defeat. Imran Hosein hit an unbeaten 46 runs from 37 balls while Renaldo Sammy made 23 as Police got to 150 for four winning with eight balls to spare.

Darrell Dennison was the pick of the bowlers for Pole 9 taking three for 24.

The earlier game between Invincible and Savannah Boys was hit by rain and reduced to 13 overs per side. Having opted to bat first, Invincible posted a total of 105 for seven from their 13 overs. Franklyn Rouse topscored for his side with 30 while Shamir Ali chipped in with 24.

In response, Invincible limited their opponents to 100 for seven. Verune Ramnarine topscored for the Savannah Boys with 36 runs from 34 balls. Invincible won the game by five runs, under the Duckworth/Lewis method.
