Scorchers, Giants cop wins in T10 Blast

SCARLET Ibis Scorchers and Leatherback Giants both recorded victories when action in the TT Cricket Board (TTCB) Dream XI T10 Blast continued at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, on Friday.

Scorchers posted 81/4 in ten overs batting first against Soca Kings in the opening match.

Tion Webster struck 33 for Scorchers while off-spinner Jon Russ Jagessar grabbed 2/10 for Soca Kings.

Soca Kings could only muster 71/5 in their ten overs with Isaiah Rajah hitting 23 as Scorchers won by ten runs.

Kieshawn Dillon was the most destructive bowler for Scorchers as his 3/21 in two overs did the trick.

In the second match of the day, Leatherback Giants prevailed with a nine-run win over Blue Devils in a high scoring contest.

Leatherback Giants scored 119/2 in ten overs with Mark Deyal lashing 43 and Kjorn Ottley belting 42.

West Indies fast bowler Shannon Gabriel picked up 1/13 in two overs for Blue Devils.

Mario Belcon kept Blue Devils in the match with 47, but they could only post 110/4 in their ten overs. Keon Isaac ensured Leatherback Giants won the match with 2/16 in two overs.
