South East to meet Central in Scotiabank NextGen final
ZANE MARAJ struck an unbeaten century to propel South East zone into the final of the Scotiabank NextGen Under-13 Cricket tournament.
Maraj’s 102 not out helped South East defeat North by 89 runs at the National Cricket Centre (NCC) in Couva, on Thursday.
Maraj struck 14 fours in his 87-ball innings to help South East post a commanding 230/2 in 40 overs batting first.
Jordan Julien gave Maraj ample support with 51.
North could only muster 141/7 in 40 overs in response with Mikaeel Ali hitting 38 off 39 deliveries.
Maraj proved he is also a useful bowler with 2/21 in seven overs.
In the first semifinal at NCC on Wednesday, Central crushed East by 226 runs.
Central compiled a massive 288/6 in their allotted 39 overs with Ra’ed Ali Khan belting 84 off 67 balls. Zakariyya Mohammed and Sanjay Naidoo contributed 63 and 47 respectively.
Bowling for East, Brian Harricharan took 3/49 and Tyler Ramroop bagged 2/59.
In reply, East was bundled out for 62 in 17.5 overs with Justin Pamphille scoring 18. K’hill Thomas snatched 3/12 and Jousha Joseph took 2/10 for Central.
The final will be held next Wednesday at NCC, from 10 am.
