Please do something about potholes

THE EDITOR: Will someone look at our roadways and do something about these broken pavements and major potholes?

I am begging the authorities to please send out your pothole crews during the late evening hours to repair the roads in our capital.

Port of Spain is the nation's capital, yet its roads are in an absolutely deplorable and horrendous state. When the country's major city has such poor road infrastructure, what does that say about our efforts to reach developed-nation status? If Port of Spain's roads are so bad, what of the other areas in the country?

Last month, I spent a few thousand dollars to repair my car, and lo and behold, earlier this week, I went into a pothole. The impact was so bad that my car's suspension is gone. There goes a few more thousand dollars out the window. "Jeezanages, man!"

And I am quite certain this has happened and is happening to other poor, helpless drivers elsewhere in the country. It's not easy to have to deal with.

Please, please repair these potholes and cracked-up pavements in the city of Port of Spain.

Also, please repair the potholes and numerous leaks plaguing the Queen’s Park Savannah, where our people go with their children to walk, bike and enjoy the beautiful green space.

The walk space around the Savannah is either moss-covered by leaks or an obstacle course with all of these potholes.

The Ministry of Works and Transport has patched up here and there, but that is simply insufficient.

I invite people from the ministry to take a walk or drive around the city and see for themselves the number of potholes there are. Fix this situation, please.
