East victorious in Scotiabank NextGen cricket

EAST defeated North East by 179 runs in the opening round of the Scotiabank NextGen Under-13 tournament at Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, on Wednesday.

Kyle Heeralal ended unbeaten on 35 and Jadon Rechais struck 32 to propel East zone to 237 all out in 35.5 overs.

Bowling for North East, Revesh Gopaul (2/42), Zaheem Ali (2/38) and Renaldo Mahase (2/47) all grabbed two wickets.

In reply, North East were dismissed for 58 in 19.1 overs.

Rayhan Gooding took 2/13 in four overs and Nathan Sagar snatched 2/6 in four overs for East.

In other matches, North got past Tobago by 68 runs at Shaw Park in Tobago and South East edged Central by seven runs at Marchin Recreation Grounds in Charlieville.
