[UPDATED] Ste Madeleine man gunned down, dog runs from killer

Omish Allan Sinanan, the Ste Madeleine man gunned down in the gallery of a relative's home on Thursday night, tried to escape his killer.

But the 20-year-old construction worker took barely a few steps before collapsing and dying at the front door.

Hearing the gunshots, the family's dog, Rex, fled from the yard and returned later that night.

A relative, who asked to remain unnamed, told Newsday on Friday, "Allan was alone in the gallery, sitting on the chair on his phone. When the man (killer) opened fire, he tried to run inside. But a bullet hit him in his head and he fell and died,

"Rex was loose in the yard and ran for his life when he heard the shots.

"He came back a good while after."

When Newsday visited, Rex was next to the chair where the gunman ambushed and shot Sinanan.

The murder happened at around 8.15 pm at Belle Vue Street, a short distance from where Sinanan lived alone at Edward Circular Street.

The police said the killer parked nearby at Ste Madeleine Circular Street, walked into the yard and opened fire from close range at Sinanan.

The killer, wearing a mask and a hoodie, got back in his car and drove off.

No one else was injured.

Ste Madeleine and Homicide Bureau Region III police visited the scene. Investigations are ongoing.

A Ste Madeleine man was gunned down at a relative's home on Thursday night.

Dead is Omish Sinanan, 20, of Edward Circular Street.

A police report said he was in the gallery at the house at Belle Vue Street, Ste Madeleine, at around 8.15 pm. Gunshots were heard, and the relative found him dead on the ground with gunshot wounds.

No one else was injured.

Ste Madeleine and Homicide Bureau Region III police visited the scene.

Investigations are ongoing.
