Unidentified man shot dead by security guards at City Gate during blackout

Police are investigating an incident where a man was shot and killed by MTS security guards at City Gate on Wednesday night.

Police said the guards were at the Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC) stores, City Gate at around 10.30 pm when they saw a flashlight shining and three men jump over a wall.

The guards were shot at by the men as they approached the wall and returned fire hitting one of the men.

The others ran away.

Police took the wounded man to the Port of Spain General Hospital where he was declared dead.

Police from the Besson Street CID are continuing enquiries.
