THE five-year-old girl and her father who survived Thursday night’s fatal shooting in Chaguanas are said to be in stable condition at hospital.

The shooting which took place at 10 pm, claimed the life of Akeem "Jamal" Alexander, 30, of Nimblette Street in Enterprise.

He was in his front yard with a 32-year-old man and his five-year-old daughter. Police said two cars, a white Tiida followed by a silver Fielder stationwagon, drove along the street and stopped in front of the house.

Two men got out of the Tiida and opened fire, hitting the two men and the child, all of whom fell to the ground.

The gunmen got back into the car while the occupants of the wagon stayed in the car. Both cars then drove off.

The three injured people, all from Chaguanas, were taken to the Chaguanas health facility where Alexander died while being treated.

The child and her father were transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope where they remained warded up to Friday afternoon.

Police did not divulge any further information.

Homicide Bureau Region III and Central Division police are investigating.

No one has been arrested.
