THE US Embassy in Port of Spain will celebrate US independence with a virtual concert featuring Nailah Blackman, Kes, Annalie Prime and Erphaan Alves. The one-hour event will be held on the day itself from 6 pm and will be live on the embassy's Facebook and Instagram pages. Celebrating its 245th anniversary, the theme of the virtual event is Brighter Days Ahead.

In responses to Newsday, a spokesperson said the concert reflects what people hope for, and that is brighter days ahead. "Thanks to science, ingenuity, industry, and perseverance, through mass vaccination, the US is slowing returning to pre-pandemic operations," the embassy said. "As long as people continue to follow the health protocols and their part to be safe, including getting vaccinated when a vaccine is available, people will soon be reunited with loved ones and engage with our local partners to improve our lives and our countries’ bilateral relationship."

Like last year, the embassy said it is celebrating US independence virtually due to the pandemic.

It added that all are invited to join the embassy in celebrating freedom and liberty.
