Narinesingh, Ramkissoon get three more years at Fair Trade Commission

THE TT Fair Trade Commission (TTFTC) has reappointed Bevan Narinesingh and Dr Ronald Ramkissoon as executive members.

Narinesingh retained the post of executive director, which became effective November 3, 2020, while Ramkissoon remained chairman with effect from April 7, 2021.

In an advertisement on Wednesday, the TTFTC said both men will serve for another three years, in accordance with section 35 and sections 26 (1), 26 (2) and 27 of the Fair Trading Act Chap 81:13, respectively. The reappointments were made by President Paula-Mae Weekes.

Narinesingh was first appointed executive director in 2014. He previously worked as senior legal officer in the Caricom Secretariat, where he was responsible for competition law and policy, international trade, corporate finance and procurement issues.

Before his appointment at the TTFTC in 2018, Ramkissoon held positions as an economist at the Central Bank and as Republic Bank’s senior economist and manager of its economic intelligence unit, and served on several business and public-sector boards, including the Economic Development Advisory Board (EDAB), the Telecommunications Authority (TATT) and the British Caribbean Chamber of Commerce.

Other commissioners included Christopher Sieuchand, Dennis Scott and Dan Martineau.

Martineau, who currently manages a private investment portfolio in securities and real estate and also serves on a number of public-sector boards, the TTFTC said, will serve for two years effective October 1, 2020.

Another commissioner, Dexter Joseph, who currently serves as a commissioner on the Regulated Industries Commission, will serve for a four-month term from April 3-August 11.

The TTFTC also noted that Mikaeel Mohammed's appointment as commissioner was revoked on March 12 last year.
