14 new deaths, 265 new covid cases

An additional 14 covid19-related deaths and 265 new cases have been recorded as of Wednesday afternoon.

The 265 new cases were from samples taken between June 26 and 29.

The Ministry of Health's 4 pm covid19 update on Wednesday said the fatalities were four elderly men, six elderly women, one middle-aged man and three middle-aged women, all with comorbidities.

These additional deaths brought the total covid19 death toll to 847.

This means that the total number of new covid19 cases for all of June was 8,884 while there were 352 deaths – the most in a month – since the virus was first detected in this country. In May, there were 13,085 new infections (the most in a month) and 326 deaths.

In week one of June, there 2,890 new infections and 94 deaths; in week two, there were 2,183 new infections and 88 deaths; in week three, there were 1,785 new infections and 70 deaths and in the final nine days of June, there were 2,026 new infections and 100 deaths.

The ministry's Wednesday press release also reported that there were 260 recovered community cases. There were also 43 additional people discharged from public health facilities.

As of Wednesday afternoon 213,632 people received their first dose of vaccine, while 88,916 people received their second dose.

The release also reported that 142 people were warded at step-down facilities, 222 people were at state quarantine facilities and 6,330 people were in home self-isolation.
