Eight more die of covid19, 391 new cases

EIGHT more people have died as a result of complications caused by covid19, the Health Ministry said in their 4 pm update on Saturday, bringing the death toll to 564.

The media release also stated that 51 people have been discharged from the parallel health facilities with an additional 317 recoveries from patients who were in home isolation.

According to the release, 421 people are still in hospital - 15 in the intensive care unit and 44 at the high dependency unit. There are 127 people at the Couva Hospital and Multi-Training Facility, 63 at Caura, 47 at Augustus Long, 15 at St Ann’s, 68 in Arima, 71 at the New Point Fortin Hospital, 21 in Scarborough Regional Hospital and three at Scarborough Regional Hospital.

The newly infected cases now stand at 391, which covers the period May 30 to June 4. There are now 10,064 active cases with 15,564 people having recovered from the virus. The Health Ministry said there are 155 at step-down facilities, 109 in state quarantine and 9,097 in home isolation.
A total of 114,161 have received their first vaccine dose, with 74,509 receiving AstraZeneca and 39,652 receiving the Sinopharm vaccine. There are 1,179 people fully vaccinated, the release said.
