4 deaths, 399 new cases reported

Four new deaths and 399 new cases of covid19 have been reported in the Health Ministry’s covid19 update for Wednesday.

The total number of deaths is now 189.

Of the new deaths, two were elderly men, one with comorbidities, one a middle-aged woman with comorbidities, and one a middle-aged man without comorbidities. Of the 399 new cases, two were recently repatriated cases.

The total number of active cases is 3,024.

Since March 2020, there have been 12,105 cases, of which 8,892 have recovered.

There are 276 people in hospital. There are 120 people in the Couva Hospital and Multi-Training Facility, ten in the intensive care unit and 30 in the high dependency unit. There are 77 at the Caura Hospital, 39 at the Augustus Long Hospital, 18 at the Arima Hospital, 21 at the Scarborough Regional Hospital, Fort King George, and one at the Scarborough General Hospital, Signal Hill.

There are 204 people in state quarantine facilities and 2,307 people in home self-isolation. Of the 42 people in step-down facilities, six are at the Claxton Bay Correctional Facility, 17 are at UWI, Debe and 19 are in Tobago.

There have been 53 recovered community cases, and seven people have been discharged from public health facilities.

As at 4 pm on Wednesday, 55,259 people had been vaccinated with their first dose, and 288 with their second.

The number of people tested was 138,090, of which 64,320 were done at private facilities.
