CEO of One Caribbean Media Dawn Thomas said yesterday the media group was very saddened by the unexpected passing of media personality and programme director of Word 107.1 FM Jamie Thomas.

Thomas died on Monday. He was 46.

W107.1 is part of the OCM group.

In a statement, Dawn Thomas said, “Jamie was a passionate, driven and inspirational young man (who) touched many lives in a very special way. He was always seeking out opportunities to spread the word of God and love to as many people as possible.”

She added that he led the launch of the radio channel, which “developed a tremendous audience following and carved out a leadership position in the market.”

He left an amazing legacy and OCM will forever be grateful for his “remarkable contribution to the group,” she said.

“To his family, friends and loved ones, we extend our sincere condolences. Jamie will be missed by all,”

Thomas was well-known in the local gospel industry and was a judge and host for the Caribbean Gospel Music Marlin Awards and promoted Caribbean gospel music through the media and other means. In 2015 he received the president’s award for his "invaluable contribution" to the growth and development of Caribbean gospel music during the 2014 Marlin Awards.
