Ahye returns to track with 3rd place finish

TT track and field athlete Michelle-Lee Ahye made a return to the track on Friday after a two-year absence with a third-place finish in the women’s 200m event at the West Coast Relays event in Fresno, California.

Ahye stopped the clock in 23.47 seconds. She finished behind Tianna Holmes of New Mexico who won in 23.22 and Anita Tavoire of Boise State in 23.25.

Ahye was not allowed to compete from April 19, 2019 for two years because of whereabouts failure. Ahye missed three drug tests over a 12-month period including tests on June 23, 2018, February 23, 2019 and April 19, 2019.

Ahye is aiming to qualify for the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games which runs from July 23 to August 8. The deadline to earn qualification for the 100m and 200m events is June 29. The qualification standard for the 100m event is 11.15 and for the 200m event the time is 22.80.
