THE United National Congress (UNC) on Thursday afternoon was drafting a response to the Prime Minister's announcement of increased restrictions.

But before that became available, UNC PRO Dr Kirk Meighoo agreed to give Newsday his initial thoughts.

"We think Keith Rowley is making the country pay for his irresponsibility, and he is to blame. He is trying to defer the blame."

Meighoo did not specify what he thought were Rowley's missteps, but these would likely come in the party's official response.

Opposition Senator Wade Mark opted not to give an opinion, but deferred to the formal statement pending from the party.

Movement for Social Justice (MSJ) leader David Abdulah said he was still listening to the PM's briefing and so could not yet comment.
