Early-morning raids in Laventille led to the arrest of one man and the seizure of a pistol and ammunition in two separate incidents.

Police said the Port of Spain Task Force began a series of searches at around 3 am on Thursday and targeted several homes in suspected drug blocks.

In the first incident, police went to the home of a man at the Old St Joseph Road at around 5.35 am and found 15 rounds of ammunition in his bedroom.

The man was arrested and is expected to be interviewed by police.

Less than an hour later at 6.30 am police went to an abandoned house on Williams Street, where a sniffer dog directed them to a concrete wall.

They broke down the wall and found a pistol with seven rounds of ammunition and a plastic container with four more rounds of ammunition.

No one was held in relation to this find.
