A 23-year-old Scarborough man appeared in the Scarborough Magistrates' Virtual Court on Tuesday charged with robbery with violence.

Andre Isaac of Sangster’s Hill, Scarborough, was arrested and charged on Monday over an incident on March 16. Police said Isaac surrendered.

It is alleged the victim, also 23, was liming at Sangster’s Hill when Isaac called out to him and led him into a track, where he was beaten and robbed.

Police said the victim was hit on the back of the head and his gold chain, valued at $25,000, was taken off his neck. An accomplice then beat him with a cutlass.

The incident was reported to the Scarborough Police Station.
Police said PC Balfour's investigations led to the arrest of Isaac.

Isaac was granted bail with surety of $50,000, with a cash alternative of $5,000. In addition, he is also to report to the Scarborough Police Station every Friday before 6pm and will reappear on court on May 25.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of the other man.
