Japanese Ambassador Tatsuo Hirayama and his wife, Sachiko, hosted an udon noodle hand-making demonstration with chef Jinichi Osawa at their residence.

Committee members of the Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme Alumni Association of TT (JETAATT) also participated in the demonstration on April 9.

Osawa, who is the Hirayama's chef, conducted the demonstration while Sachiko explained the process, techniques and the preparation required to make the udon noodles from scratch, said a media release from the embassy.

The JETAATT committee members also assisted with the making of the noodles. They were invited to participate in traditional ways of making the noodles by using their body weight to knead the dough.

After the demonstration, they were treated to the cooked udon noodles prepared by Osawa.
