[Updated] Three killed by gun in separate cases

Three men were murdered in separate incidents between over the last 48 hours.

And the body of a man was found in trunk of a car at Roodal Cemetery, in San Fernando on Saturday.

Police identified the latest victim as Osei Leonard but could not provide any further details.

Earlier on Saturday, an Arima man was gunned down at Curepe junction during an attempted robbery outside a bar.

Police said Steffan Francis, 31, of Tumpuna Road, Arima was at D Junction Bar when a gunman came in and held up the patrons.

Eyewitnesses told police Francis fought with the gunman as he was leaving and was shot. Francis collapsed on the Southern Main Road, Curepe where he died.

In El Socorro, a 21-year-old man was shot and killed on Friday night after two gunmen opened fire on a group of people in the district.

Police said around 11.30 pm, Giovanni Stewart, and Christian Mullings, both of Lootoo Street, El Socorro were hit in the gunfire.

Mullings managed to run a short distance and was assisted by a neighbour while Stewart was found on the road bleeding from multiple injuries.

Stewart was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Centre where he was declared dead on arrival. Mullings was treated for a gunshot wound to the chest and is listed in a stable condition.

Police said Stewart was shot in the right side of the chest and left side of his face.

No motive was given for the killing.

And just before midnight on Friday, Petit Valley mechanic man was gunned down in what police have described as a gang-related killing.

Police said around 11.55 pm Kurt "Daddy Kurt" Charles, 48, was confronted by two gunmen at Ravine Road, Petit Valley.

The men opened fire on Charles, who lived nearby at Pioneer Drive.

Charles was taken to the St James Medical Complex where he died while being treated.

Police said the vehicle taking the injured man for medical help had stalled and he had to be transferred to another vehicle while en route to the hospital.

Investigators said they found 9mm and 7.56 spent shell casings at the scene of the shooting.
