Energy company EOG Resources Trinidad Ltd said the 14 workers at its facility in Chaguaramas who tested positive for covid19 are in home quarantine.

On Thursday the company confirmed that there were cases on the shore-based site but was unable to confirm the number of cases then.

Its corporate affairs manager Lisa Steele told Newsday on Friday afternoon that all the employees at the facility on Tuesday have since been asked to go into quarantine.

She explained, “There were 14 confirmed people with the virus. We cleared the facility the day the first person tested positive. There were two days of sanitisation and the individuals who did not test positive were also in home quarantine as a preventative measure.”

Steele was unable to say how many employees have been sent into quarantine.

She added that the company has restarted its operations with personnel being brought in to fill the gaps.

“We have a completely new crew that had to be dispatched."

Shell TT Ltd also confirmed on Thursday that ten people on board its Dolphin facility had tested positive for covid19 and were taken to a Ministry of Health-approved location for quarantine and contact tracing.

On Friday afternoon the Ministry of Health said there were 104 new covid19 cases.
