Minister of Education Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly said the issue of postponing the Secondary Entrance Examination came up at a stakeholders' meeting on Thursday.

It will be given consideration, she said in a WhatsApp message to Newsday on Friday.

She was responding to the possibility of postponement, considering the recent spike in covid19 cases.

She said stakeholders met on Thursday to discuss the SEA and the best options for students.

Last year's students were scheduled to sit the exam on April 2, but it was postponed after covid19 breached Trinidad and Tobago's borders in March. The exam was rescheduled to August 20.

Gadsby-Dolly also said TT has been discussing the possibility of having the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) exams online.

“The ministry is taking the steps now that will allow for that to be realised, including the provision of devices, expansion of connectivity, movement of teachers and learning the electronic platforms and, eventually, incorporating digital literacy into all aspects of the classroom and school examination.”

She said this would ensure students are well prepared for online CSEC examinations.
