CARIBBEAN Airlines has extended its temporary halt of all flights to and from Barbados to April 30.

These services were initially suspended on April 13 and were expected to resume on April 18.

But in a press release on Friday, the airline said "in the interest of safety," the suspension will continue.

It said affected travellers will be re-accommodated when flights resume and no penalties will apply to affected bookings.

"The airline continues to closely monitor the activity related to the La Soufriere volcano, including the movement of ash."

The volcano, in St Vincent, first erupted two weeks ago and remains active. The most recent explosive eruption was around 11 am on Thursday.

Ash fall has not only been affecting Vincentians but also Barbadians.
